| International internships at TARA
Are you a
student of archaeology, art history, conservation
/ restoration, engineering, library science, museology
or public administration? If so, you may be interested
in undertaking an internship at TARA. The programme
is open to students and graduates from around the
world. TARA is currently looking for people with interest
and experience in the archives and digitization, documentation
and community projects. Fundraising and earned income
activities are also current priority areas.
Internships
can be undertaken individually or in association with
a university or other study programme. TARA takes
into consideration the applicant's studies, interests
and career goals in selecting interns. We can take
into consideration any length of time for an internship,
although it should ideally be a minimum of two months.
TARA does invest time in supervision, although due
to our limited resources, interns are also expected
to work independently. Interns are required to submit
a final report and make a presentation to TARA staff
upon completion of their attachment.
TARA is unable to provide financial
support for international travel but will assist in
obtaining necessary documents to enter and temporarily
reside in Kenya. TARA can look for (and sometimes
provide) reasonable accommodation for interns and
assist, where possible, with local transportation.
TARA does not normally provide an allowance, although
lunch is provided. Interns are welcome and encouraged
to join in TARA activities and it is possible that
an intern may be invited to join one of our survey/documentation
trips. Interns, however, will be responsible for their
own medical insurance, which is compulsory. Applications
are considered on an ongoing basis.
Interested applicants should
