Executive Chairman and founder
David Coulson is an internationally recognised photographer and author of many books and articles about Africa's cultural history and landscapes. His photographs have been exhibited in London, Rio de Janeiro, Johannesburg, Washington DC, Nairobi and Vancouver. David has worked as consultant to the United Nations Environment Programme, spearheading the 1999 Canon-sponsored international photographic competition on the Environment. His fifth book, African Rock Art, written in collaboration with Alec Campbell, was published in 2001. David has led TARA since he founded the Trust in 1996.
Personal Assistant to the Chairman
Eunice Mbindyo was born in Machakos, Kenya where she completed her primary and secondary education. She joined TARA in 1999 as a Senior Secretary and moved up to become the Operations Assistant, in charge of TARA operations until 2008. She was actively involved in preparation of TARA's international Rock Art Conference in Nairobi 2004. Eunice holds a Diploma in secretarial training and office management, and a Higher Diploma in business management; she is fluent in English, Kiswahili, Kikamba, and Kikuyu.
Chief Operations Officer
Terry Little was recruited in January 2007 as TARA's new COO, replacing Ms Amolo Ng'weno. Terry, formerly Head of Communications at ICCROM (Rome), has extensive international heritage experience. He has over 15 years of professional experience in Africa through ICCROM's PREMA programme, and subsequently as a private heritage consultant with the Centre for Heritage Development in Africa (CHDA, ex-PMDA), the Ecole du Patrimoine Africain (EPA), AFRICOM (International Council of African Museums), Robben Island Training Programme (RITP), among others. Terry is also a part-time lecturer in marketing and communication of cultural heritage. Terry is fluent in English, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and Turkish, and is currently learning Swahili.
Manager of Community Projects & Outreach
Gloria K. Borona holds a bachelors degree in Environmental Studies-Community Development from Kenyatta University. She is currently pursuing a Masters of Business Administration with a bias in Strategic Management at the University of Nairobi. Gloria joined TARA in June 2007 as Projects Assistant and is currently working on the implementation of the project "Promotion of Rock Art Tourism in Kenya" on Mfangano island, Suba District. Previously she worked in Kibera slums in Nairobi with AVSI (International Service Volunteers Association) in community projects focusing on nutrition, health, entrepreneurship and education programmes. Gloria aims to be proactively engaged in interventions that lead to sustainable livelihoods for communities, to be a key player in the formulation and implementation of successful strategies for organisational growth, development and competitive advantage. Gloria speaks and writes fluent English and Swahili.
Financial Manager
Geoffrey Mburu was born in Subukia Location in Nakuru District. He joined TARA in 2004 as an accountant, and was later promoted to the position of the Financial Manager. He has over 10yrs working experience gained from NGOs and other firms. As TARA's Finance Manager, Geoffrey is responsible for overall budgeting, production and presentation of financial reports, overseeing external audits, design and implementation of internal control systems, and supervision of project accounts. Geoffrey is a Certified Public Accountant and also holds CPS (K) and KATC (final); he is currently undertaking a BCom. at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa.
