The new Nairobi National Museum is now open! After almost three years, the Nairobi Museum opened its doors to an eager public on 31st March 2008. TARA's rock art exhibition, "The Dawn of Imagination" is without a doubt one of the highlights of a visit to the new Nairobi Museum. This unique exhibition gives visitors an exciting opportunity to see, feel and understand rock art as the very beginning of human imagination. It explores six main themes, namely: What is rock art; Distribution of rock art in Africa; Who are the artists; What does the art mean; and How can the public participate in conserving this priceless heritage. There is also an interactive game, the Wheel of Knowledge, which encourages visitors to test their knowledge of rock art after viewing the exhibition.

Trained attendants are available at all times to show visitors around the exhibition and to respond to any questions.

The new Nairobi National Museum is open daily (including Sundays and public holidays) from 9am to 6pm.
