TARA launches educational activities at Nairobi Museum

TARA launched its first educational studio for 45 students at the Nairobi National Museum on the 24 June 2009. The studios are interactive activities based on the EPA-funded project "Animating the "Dawn of Imagination" rock art exhibition". The 2-hour studio sessions were attended by two primary schools in Nairobi, Arya Vidic and Memusi Academy. The students were given an introduction to rock art and toured the "Dawn of Imagination" exhibition.

They later filled in a worksheet questionnaire about what they learnt from the guided tour and video. Students later engaged in a thrilling game competition in which they were required to reconstruct a jumbled puzzle within a time span of ten minutes. A rock art drawing session was also held as a way of inspiring the students to develop artistic skills. The best drawings will be published in a magazine about rock art for young people in late 2009.
