TARA
participates in NMK open day
TARA participated in the
National Museums of Kenya NMK,
Open Day at the invitation of the Earth Sciences
Department. Held on 27th and 28th November this
year, the NMK Open Day is an annual event during
which the public is invited to see the different
kinds of research the museum is undertaking and
their relevance to national development. The theme
for this year was 'Research and humanity for Kenya
Vision 2030'. Vision 2030 is the country's long-term
development blueprint that aims at transforming
Kenya into a newly industrialised, middle income
country providing a quality life for all its citizens
by the year 2030.
TARA had the opportunity
to show off its community projects around Kenya
(Mfangano Island, Kakapel and Lokori), highlighting
how rock art heritage contributes to sustainable
development among the communities living around
the sites. TARA was also able to showcase some of
its new merchandise to some of the 10,000 people
who attended the event.
