'Windows on Africa's Past' opens in Kisumu Museum, Kenya
The TARA exhibition 'Windows on Africa's past' was officially opened on 23 February , 2009 in the new 3rd Gallery at the Kisumu museum. This multi-faceted exhibition on Africa's unique rock art heritage was launched in partnership with the Alliance Française in Nairobi and has traveled to ten countries in Africa after its launch in Kenya: Botswana, Djibouti, Eritrea, Madagascar, Namibia, Sudan, Swaziland, Tanzania and Zimbabwe. The exhibition will be up until the end of August, 2009.
The guest of honour for the event was the Hon. William Ole Ntimama the Minister of State for National Heritage and Culture who was represented by the Permanent Secretary Dr Jacob Ole Miaron. Other guests included the France Ambassador to Kenya, Madame Elisabeth Barbier, the Director General, National Museums of Kenya, Dr Idle Farah, the Provincial Commissioner Nyanza Province, Paul Olando, the Kisumu Mayor, Sam Okelo, TARA Executive Chairman, David Coulson, TARA Chief Operations Officer, Terry Little and residents of Kisumu. Putting up this exhibition at the Kisumu Museum was a collaborative effort between TARA, Alliance Française and the National Museums of Kenya.
