Zimbabwe Safari

David has just completed a successful Zimbabwe rock art safari. The group of 8 plus David and his Zimbabwe friend and safari partner Pierre Jaunet, in whose landrovers the group travelled, began the journey in Harare, the capital, and then drove north and east visiting important sites known to David before driving south through central and southern Mashonaland, after which they reached Great Zimbabwe (Zimbabwe Ruins), the remains of an ancient gold and spice empire/trade which flourished for perhaps 1,000 years beginning in about the 7th Century AD.

Then from Great Zimbabwe the group travelled to the Matobo World Heritage rock art site (UNESCO) south of Bulawayo before heading north east to the Hwange National Park to enjoy seeing some big game.

Finally, the safari ended at the Victoria Falls which were particularly impressive after heavy rains in the catchment areas.
